TX-6 or TX-7 - Which One is Right for You?

In general, most specialized breeders prefer the greater precision offered by the TX-7 models for their exotic species including Macaws, Cockatoos, and African Grey parrots. The TX6 is primarily chosen by more casual hobbyists and by schools for their spring science programs since they are more likely to hatch chicken, duck, quail, or goose eggs. The Classroom Incubation Kit, which includes the TX-6 with automatic turner, is especially popular with teachers.

SIMILARITIES BETWEEN THESE TWO MODELS:

Included with either unit is fan-forced air flow to provide even heat distribution around the eggs, the optional automatic turner, as well as a set of thermometers. Both units also use your choice of one of the five turnings rings, so a variety of eggs can be incubated and hatched. (Note: The Classroom Incubation Kit comes with the turning room for chicken eggs.)

DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THESE TWO MODELS:

The two major differences are found in the temperature control module and the thermometers that read temperature and humidity. The thermostat of the TX-7 model utilizes a ""Ten Turn"" Potentiometer, whereas the TX-6 model has a "Single Turn" Potentiometer. This means that temperature on the the TX-7 can be adjusted or fine-tuned more easily and accurately for your specific requirements, especially at hatching time when the temperature is usually lowered.

In addition, the thermometers on the TX-7 are a higher grade Mercury thermometer than the small red "Spirit" alcohol thermometers used in the TX-6. Since most TX-6's are used in schools, these are supplied as they are easier for children to read and understand.
