This nocturnal species is extremely camouflaged to blend in with tree bark, moss, and lichens that occur in its native habitat on the island of Madascar. Modified scales form an irregular edge to the body that blends in nearly seamlessly with the bark substrate. Its large eyes are sensitive to light therefore, this gecko should be provided with a heat bulb in the infrared spectrum. This is one of the largest of the geckos.
